How to Go Vegan in 5 Easy Steps

For whatever reason that brought you to this page, I will assume that veganism had brought you into a certain level of curiosity that can make you decide whether you will pursue this kind of lifestyle or not. And that, you need more information that will help you with your decision making. For that, rest assured that you have my sympathy as taking part of this lifestyle is not that easy to do especially that you are well acquainted and very much comfortable with the kind of lifestyle you had today.

In this article, let me show you a little secret to help this change of lifestyle more exciting as it aims to make the process go smoothly as possible. These are 5 tips that made most vegans successful in their journey.

Invest time in the kitchen

Make sure to TAKE IT SLOW!

Most people will tell you to keep your end goal in mind. But let me add “go at your own pace”. Why? The logic is simple. Changing lifestyle is not a one size fits all journey. There are people who can manage to go vegan overnight. Well, good for them. But it does not need to be your story too! Do not be worried, terrified or discouraged if you weren’t able to cope up with their pace. Each of us has our own story to tell and focus on what you are about to share.

Fresh organic foods

Just like any other lifestyle change, veganism takes a little more time to determine what will work best for you and how to do it. For instance, making small changes in your day to day diet could bring so much change in your food choices as time pass by. Therefore, take it slow. And I mean you can take it real slow depending on how your body and mind responds to these changes. You can start with having a vegan breakfast in your first week and shift the next to a vegan lunch. Or, you can try changing one of your dairy products into some dairy alternatives one at a time. It’s totally up to you!

Make sure to DO IT RIGHT!

Just because you are a vegan doesn’t mean that you are 100% healthy too. That is why I suggest that you take a better look on what you are about to eat. Make sure that you don’t miss out the essential nutrients your body needs or it will lead you to some nutrient deficiency problems. Planning your meal ahead of time can help prevent the occurrence of these situations. Plan a healthy diet that incorporates all the vitamins and nutrients your body need. Do some research for plant-based alternatives in exchange of those nutrients you can get from used-to animal-based products.

Try something new

Make sure to TRY NEW THINGS!

Becoming a vegan means trying out new things by treating your taste buds to new flavours and cuisines. Shifting into a vegan lifestyle can bring you into new discoveries of foods and drinks that might be totally new to you. As you leave your comfort zone, you will discover that there are lots of vegan recipes around the world that are perfectly amazing and are prepared in different interesting variations that will surely suit your appetite. Trying out new things in your kitchen doesn’t require an award-winning chef to be able to do it perfectly. Just wait to be surprised by your own skills as you manage to recreate things based on the availability of your resources.

To go vegan is to let the learning process live in us. It does not require any vegan to learn everything overnight. So don’t be discouraged just in case you’ll find yourself confused about the various strands of veganism. Allow yourself to learn in your own pace. Do not rush things out. We have our own pacing so we just have to wait for our own time to fully embrace the idea. That’s it!

But, keep in mind, once in a while, that you must also learn to pat yourself on the back for the progress you made. Sometimes, we fail to acknowledge our milestones and, as failures and challenges come our way, discouragement is more likely to occur. Take time to look back and acknowledge how far this journey had brought you. Hold on to your end goal and believe in yourself. Just keep going!

Make sure to ASK FOR HELP!

I am quite sure that every vegan doesn’t know everything. We need to rely to some reading materials and tools for knowledge acquisition. But in case you are still confused and needs for further assistance, do not hesitate to ask for additional information to those people with the same advocacies as yours. There are lots of online communities and forum threads that are created to suit your needs. Do not hesitate to join them and discuss things out. They are the best people to turn to and draw strength to keep this lifestyle change going.
