Portland, Oregon made it on top of the list in this year’s PETA awards as the Most Vegan-Friendly City of 2016. This is to give credits to its wide array of vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants known for its brand and advocacies. Some of them are Back to Eden Bakery, Vtopian Cheese Shop and Deli, Homegrown Smoker Vegan BBQ, Portobello Vegan Trattoria, Petunia’s Pies and Pastries and Voodoo Doughnut.
Aside from this meat-, egg- and dairy-free restaurants, Portland is also known for its numerous all-vegan enterprises for those who are seeking for a bit more excitement in their life. In Portland, you can visit a bed and breakfast, a summer camp, a punk-metal bar, a strip mall, a tattoo shop and strip clubs that takes care of your advocacies.
In addition to those mentioned earlier, Portland, Oregon is also a place where you can easily find vegan practitioners, vegan counsellors and other lifestyle services.
Los Angeles, California
Los Angeles is known, not just as the City of Angels but also, as a city with more listings of vegan and vegan-friendly eateries and events on HappyCow. It is where PETA’s West Coast Headquarters is located which assures you that the vegan options have been tested thoroughly.
One of its popular and star-studded vegan restaurants is the Crossroad where some of its mouth-watering dishes are prepared by the celebrity chef Tal Ronnen. With all these vegan popularity in the city, restaurant owner Ravi DeRossi made his 15 bars and restaurants vegan making him popular in the place.
The rising of Detroit in the list of vegan-friendly cities or countries around the world is due to the uprise of its vegan-friendly spots like Detroit Vegan Soul, which offers mac and cheese, catfish tofu, barbeque tofu sandwiches, collard greens and okra stew, and Seva, which serves vegan buffalo tempeh wings and Thai noodles.

Today, it is now easier to find vegan options in the Grand Ole Opry state where vegan options are found everywhere. Avo becomes an uprising star as it offers vegan wines and tree nut cheeses. Coco Greens Café had shifted its line from vegetarian to vegan in 2014 and another popular vegan-friendly establishment, Sunflower Vegetarian Café, have more vegan and gluten-free options to choose.
Nashville also offers vegan cheese pizza at many pizza places like Five Points Pizza, Mellow Mushroom and Two Boots. It is also the home of Bagel Face Bakery, which offers agave and vegan sausages, and The Post East, which offers chickpea salad sandwich, vegan Caesar salad, buffalo-style tofu, and vegan ranch dressing.
